Robust, clustering rattan to 15m. Stems without sheath 25mm, with sheath 35mm. Internodes 25-30cm, knee present, robust flagellum present up to 4m. Sheaths dull green, densely armed with long, black spines with yellow bases. Leaves to 3 m including short petiole to 10cm, subcirrate. Leaflets glossy green, concolorous, bristly on veins on undersurface, regular, subregular distally.
