Very robust clustering rattan to 15m. Sheathless cane often lying on ground, bright green, conspicous nodes, resembling sugar cane. Stems without sheaths 5cm diameter, with sheaths 7 cm. Internodes 30cm, knee and flagellum absent. Sheaths green, armed with combs of long, shiny, black spines. Leaves 2.5m including 50cm cirrus and spiny petiole to 50cm. 55 leaflets on each side of rachis, regularly arranged. Leaf ca. 4m including 80cm petiole. Leaflets ca. 65 on each side of rachis.
