| Plant Information |
Moderately slender, clustering rattan to 10m. Stems without sheath 10mm, with sheath 12mm. Sheaths glossy green with long fine black spines. Ocrea well developed, to 25cm long, divergent from the main stem, brown with spines as on stem plus further fine black spicules, margins inrolled, inhabited by large, biting black ants which make a rhythmic hissing rattle noise on the dry walls of the ocrea.
